The Victron SmartSolar MPPT 150/60 is a solar charge controller with a rated charge current of 60 A and a maximum PV open circuit voltage of 150 V, suitable for 12 / 24 / 48 V battery systems (auto select; a software tool is needed to select 36 V). This is the MC4 version, fitted with two pairs of MC4 connectors for the PV input instead of screw terminals. Bluetooth Smart is built in, so the controller can be set up, monitored, updated and synchronised wirelessly, and up to 10 units can be synchronised over Bluetooth. Ultra-fast Maximum Power Point Tracking improves energy harvest by up to 30 % compared to PWM charge controllers and by up to 10 % compared to slower MPPT controllers, and the advanced MPP detection algorithm locks onto the optimum maximum power point under partial shading. Maximum efficiency exceeds 98 % with no cooling fan. The charge algorithm is fully programmable, with eight pre-programmed algorithms selectable with a rotary switch, and an internal temperature sensor compensates absorption and float charge voltage for temperature. Battery voltage, temperature and current can optionally be sensed via Bluetooth using a Smart Battery Sense, BMV-712 Smart Battery Monitor or SmartShunt. Extensive electronic protection covers over-temperature (with power derating), PV short circuit, PV reverse polarity and PV reverse current. Other features include a VE.Direct port for wired connection to a Color Control GX, other GX products or a PC, remote on-off, a programmable relay, a fully discharged battery recovery function, and an optional pluggable SmartSolar LCD display.
